Build Your Own Star Trek Captain's Chair With Dawn Brown

Have you ever dreamed of sitting in Captain Kirk's chair? Well, now you can thanks to some detailed set design blueprints by artist Dawn Brown.

I usually don't feature set design, but couldn't resist this one.

They were done for the movie Star Trek (2009) and give all the elevations and measurements to build the captain's chair from the starship U.S.S. Kelvin.

For good measure you can also build a replica of the main helm console (con and ops) station.

What do you think of the illustrations? Would you sit in the captain's chair?

  1. Looks like I have my next project. Third in the queue after fixing the basement floor and building a TARDIS front for my movie nook.

  3. Awesome specs Maurice, truly you're a devil for details but for me the icing on the cake has to be sitting in Captain Kirk's chair or even Picard's.

  5. Hey - Have you done a Captain's chair drawing from Into Darkness? I'd love to see a drawing of that. I'm actually building the chair, the helm, and the smaller stand-up table thing for a music video/parody my daughter is filming. They green screen a lot, but wanted to have more props for this one. Her last video has gotten 250,000 views on YouTube in 2 days (9th most watched on YouTube this weekend!) search Notliterally to see the quality of their videos and you'll see why i'd like to use some plans to build from. Thanks!
